VINTAGE 2022
The 2022 was characterized by a dry and warm autumn, followed by a winter with few precipitation mainly concentrated in the second half of February. These conditions persisted into spring, with no rain and a gradual increase in temperatures which became quite high during the summer. The second half of August, however, was marked by some rainfall, which, along with a good temperature range, created optimal conditions for grape ripening. The harvest began on August 31st, significantly earlier than the usual Biondi-Santi harvests.
ORIGIN
The 2022 Rosso was produced with an accurate selection grapes from our proprietary vineyards.
AGEING
The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino was aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months.
EMOTION
From an exceptional year in terms of drought and heat waves, a Rosso with a very round, intense, leafy and dried character. The nose is fruit driven at the beginning: lots of cherry, black berries, saturated and dark fruit. Then spice, blue flowers, mint. The palate is succulent even if very rich, delivering Morello cherry, blood orange, star anise sensations. Tannins are tight but fine-grained, the acidity tangy, and helps to keep the wine balanced and in tension. The finish is layered and outstretched.
